Week Twelve in the SPFL was almost a full slate of outstanding team scores and down to the wire slugfests as the postseason picture becomes ever more clear.
The Piranha Brothers (12-0) have clinched the Tommy Boy title, the overall #1 seed and are only two games away from the first perfect season in SPFL history.
The Bright 1s (9-3) clinch the Matt Foley Division with one more win or one Beauty and the Beasts (7-5) loss. (The Bright 1s are also currently 1-0 vs. B & B, and they match up again in Week 14).
Yesterday’s Corn (7-5) clinch the TB runner up wild card with one more win or one more loss by both the Moops and the Turtles, as the Corn are 2-0 this season versus both of those teams.
Now, here is the really interesting twist. Beauty and the Beasts are 0-1 vs. the Heroes (6-6) and they match up again this weekend. Should the Heroes pull off that win and go on to win the second place wild card via another win or a B&B loss in Week 14, B&B and the Turf Turtles would be vying for that final total points wild card spot … and right now only THREE POINTS separate the two. Nice. That’s when it gets fun.
Brothers 162 – Monkeys 130: The Brothers regained their footing with another big score, led by CMac (32) and Mike Evans (25). The Thunder Monkeys have put on a late season surge trying to climb into the wild card chase, but it appears that it’s going to come up short. This past weekend, Keenan Allen and Zay Flowers both put 23 points.
Heroes 154 – Bright 1s 136: The Heroes kept the 1s from celebrating, thanks to Josh Allen’s amazing 41 point outing and the Dolphins D contributing 34. The Bright 1s faltered despite the Ravens D (26) and Deebo Samuel (22).
Lightning 149 – Corn 135: The Lightning are also finding their stride, but also seemingly too late, as CJ Stroud (31) and Jerry, er, uh, Rashee Rice (24) led the greasy scoring. Tyreek Hill (25) and Nico Collins (23) popped for the Corn.
Names 142 – Beauty 131: Another team showing some pride, the No Names took down a contender, led by Trevor Lawrence (25) and Josh Jacobs (26), while the Beasts relied on the Philly connection of Jalen Hurts (37) and Devonta Smith (23). https://x.com/jasongay/status/1728869717375619108?s=20

Mayberry was led, once again, by Dak Prescott (32) and Bijan Robinson (28). The Turf Turtles continued their spirited title defense putting up a score that would have beat anyone else on that given weekend, led by Kyren Williams (40) and Rhamondre Stevenson (23).
Megatron 97 – Midgets 91: Note that I opened with a nearly “full slate of outstanding scores” but it was an outstanding game as Megatron solidified their spot out of the SPFL basement, thanks to Stefon Diggs (19) and Cee Dee Lamb (17). The Midgets were led by Jared Goff (21) and Pat Friermuth (21) and for the second straight week tried to will Tee Higgins (0 – DNP) to health by keeping him in their bitter little lineup.
Next Week
- Moops @ Brothers
- Midgets @ Bright 1s
- Beauty @ Heroes
- Megatron @ Names
- Lightning @ Turtles
- Monkeys @ Corn
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and are ready for that inevitable Santa season upon us now. I, for one, am a little more focused on football for the time being with a great slate of SPFL games, some interesting college title games, and one major NFL showdown on our plate for the weekend. Best of luck and enjoy. Another season is nearing its conclusion. Sigh.
