Thanks to everyone for another fun SPFL draft! I’m a little nervous, though, I’m not a big fan of the Yahoo experts giving me an A grade and giving the Lightning a low grade. It just seems … off. While I feel pretty good about my team overall, I’m a little nervous that I fell for the annual “Hard Knocks” virus and went out on a limb with a rookie QB leading my squad. I’ve done a lot of drafts in my time and believe me, I know when I’ve bogeyed a hole. I was quite surprised when only half of our owners exercised the right to use keepers — particularly Breece Hall (3rd round cost), CeeDee Lamb (1st round cost), and Sam LaPorta (11th round cost!) Gutsy moves!
Nevertheless, I thought I’d throw out what I predict to be the final four SPFL teams standing this year … drumroll, Ellen … I know injuries can change everything, but … I think the four best rosters right now look to be: the Piranha Brothers, the Bright 1s, the Tennessee Turf Turtles, and … the Auto Pick Me’s, formerly the No Names. We’ll see how it looks when October rolls around.
I also thought I’d throw out my annual NFL predictions which are always so spot on:
In the AFC, I see the seedings like this:
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Houston Texans
- Buffalo Bills
- Baltimore Ravens
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Miami Dolphins
- Jacksonville Jaguars
In the NFC, the playoff seedings will be:
- Detroit Lions
- LA Rams
- Atlanta Falcons
- Dallas Cowboys (believe me, I think they’ll suck, I just think the Eagles may be even more dysfunctional than Dem Boyz)
- Chicago Bears
- San Francisco 49ers
- Green Bay Packers
AFC Championship: Chiefs over Texans
NFC Championship: Lions over 49ers
Super Bowl Champions: Kansas City Chiefs
Yes, I see history being made this year … a three peat and the Lions finally making the Big Game. I’m not rooting for that three peat, but I do believe in Mahomes and Reid.
The four worst teams this year: Patriots, Raiders, Giants, and Saints.
I’m sure I’m way off, but the important thing is … we’re no longer weeks away from kickoff. It’s days. And soon it will be hours. Hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend and don’t forget those lineups before next week’s Thursday (and Friday!) game. Let’s goooo!
