I’m posting a little early this week as I hope to be neck deep in pumpkin pie come Thursday afternoon.
We have our first two asterisks in the divisional standings as the Piranha Brothers (11-0) and the Bright 1s (9-2) both clinched a playoff spot. The Brothers went so far as to wrap up the Tommy Boy title, so the question becomes can they finish off the first perfect season in SPFL history? The Bright 1s haven’t quite mathematically clinched the Matt Foley Division, but it’s pretty darn close with a 2.5 game lead and three games yet to play.
Beauty and the Beasts (7-4) also have a fairly comfortable two game lead for the runner up Matt Foley slot while the Tommy Boy second place finish is still in play. At present, Yesterday’s Corn (7-4) are up by one game on the Turf Turtles (6-5) and the Moops and Monkeys linger at 5-6, each.
Right now, the Heroes and Moops hold down the total point wild cards, but the Turtles, Monkeys, and Lightning all are within plausible distance with some big scores.
Monkeys 130 – Moops 108: The Monkeys cruised to an easy win, thanks to a Purdy good quarterback (29) and Keenan Allen (27). The Moops were led by the Cowboys D (33) and Puka Nacua (18) and hamstrung by a paltry 1 point outing by AJ Brown and a Bijan Bye Week.
Heroes 162 – Midgets 95: The Heroes opened a can on some bitter little ones, led by Calvin Ridley (31) and Tank Dell (30). The Midgets backfield duo of Joe Mixon (22) and Brian Robinson (21) led their efforts.

Beauty 169 – Megatron 104: Yet another can was opened, as Beauty and the Beasts yawned their way to victory behind Saquon Barkley (31) and Brandon Aiyuk (28). Megatron relied on Jahmyr Gibbs (22) and the venerable Josh Dobbs (19).

Brothers 134 – Lightning 124: The Piranha Brothers seem to be teasing us, teetering close to a L, but never quite going over the edge. This week, CMac (23) and DJ Moore (22) prevented the blemish while the Lightning made a good effort, led by Davante Adams (23) and James Cook (20). Mark Andrews early injury (4 points) may have been the difference in this one.

1s 117 – Names 106: The Bright 1s looked a little rusty, but survived a weak upset bid, getting just enough points from Justin Herbert (28) and Amon Ra (21). The Names were led by Trevor Lawrence (32) and Jayden Reed (20) but were shamed by two bye week zeroes in their lineup.

Corn 141 – Turtles 82: One more can was opened up in this one, as the Corn floated to the top with Tyreek Hill (30) and TD machine Gus Edwards (22). The Turtles were led by Breece Hall (19) and Mr. Taylor Swift (16).

Next Week
- Moops @ Turtles

Don’t forget, we have three games on Thursday and ONE GAME ON FRIDAY, so make sure those lineups are ready to go early this week!
The Commish and his Cowboy fan daughter and her husband made the trip to Charlotte, NC on Sunday to watch the Cowboys whip up on the hapless Panthers. We all wore Cowboy jerseys figuring there would be plenty of Dallas fans to back us up should it be required. Little did I know, people wearing Panther jerseys were the ones in danger! It was literally 10 to 1, Dallas fans! It was a blast. The weather was perfect, the whole stadium was chanting “Here We Go Dallas, Here We Go”. One word of advice if you ever go to a game there, allow for traffic time. That downtown stadium is a headache.
Short and sweet this week. Hope y’all have a blessed, safe Thanksgiving and enjoy the games!
